Design Inspirations
In Japan, Okinawa is the first to awaken with the delicate sakura blossoms. Unlike in mainland Japan, the cherry blossom trees of Okinawa do not grow in large groups. Rather, they bloom all over the island, from Mount Yae to the streets of Naha. Each year, follow Meijiro’s singing and you can find a sakura tree in full bloom, quietly reaching for the sky, just waiting to be discovered. Oogimi (part of Yambaru in Okinawa) was a peaceful old village I stumbled upon. Split by a river, sakura flowers gracefully float on the current to the sea, spinning as if bidding farewell to their mother tree. 🌸
