For Comic Con Okinawa 2019, we created a mashup of four legendary Starwars using traditional Japanese bamboo brush. We bring you back to 16th century Japan where warlords were fighting to expand territories and ultimately to be the king of Japan. Reimagine Starwars taking place during that era, how would you Starwars heroes make their marks?
This collection feature five legendary Starwars characters
There are four iconic Star Wars characters in the collection. The first one is stormtrooper as the archer warrior. Laser guns are cool, but bow and arrow can be just as deadly as laser in the hands of a samurai warrior.
The second character is Princess Leia in Ryukyu kimono waiting for battle. This design is inspired by the legend of Ii Naotora - a Japanese female warlord from the 16th century.
The third character is Darth Vader. The legendary general from the dark side needs no introduction, but what is going to look like if he lived in the 17th century without advanced technology?
The Mandalorian & Baby Yoda
The Mandalorian went after baby Yoda and protected him because that was what he was hired to do. Japanese history also fills with legends of bounty hunters and their targets. Most started as an exchange and eventually grown into a partnership, sometimes love. The Mandalorian character in this design is inspired by the legendary Japanese bounty hunter Miyamoto Musashi, who is famous for using two swords and his undefeated 61 duels.
Last but not least, the choice fourth character was between Queen Amidala and Ahsoka. Our fans voted for the queen.
