On the morning of October 31st, 2019, a large fire broke out and burned down the main hall and two adjacent buildings to the north and south of Shuri Castle. The fire also destroyed over 400 artifacts and documents, including paintings, lacquerware, ancient writings, and dyed fabrics. This drawing was created on the same day to pay tribute to an icon that has inspired all of us. We hope you hang it somewhere close to your heart, and remember that we are lucky to be live at a time where Shuri Castle is no longer the target of bombs, but a symbol of tradition and prosperity.
