Each year, we submit a new artwork to participate in the annual 沖展 (Okinawa Art Exhibit) hosted by Okinawa Times. OkiTen is the largest art exhibition in Okinawa, which attracts local artists from all categories to join. After a round of voting by the judges, selected artworks will take part in the art exhibition in mid-April at ANA arena in Urasoe city. This artwork we submit called “Okinawa Is… “ is chosen to be part of at OkiTen 2020.
This artwork illustrates an average day in Okinawa. Look closely, you will see people busy doing daily activities often seem on the island. You will see street festivals, kids practicing Eisa dance in the community center, kindergarten teachers taking children out for a short stroll, neighbors chatting while walking a pet bull, etc.
The original artwork was hand-drawn on nine A4 size papers. We combine them and make the art prints available here to share with you how proud we feel to be recognized by Okinawa’s top art authority. A special THANK YOU to our fans, who shared with us your more memorable Okinawa experience. Your ideas make this possible.
